Today, Arbor Networks announced that a global leader in private cloud hosting selected its DDoS mitigation platform to identify attacks before they get to the customer premise. ScaleMatrix turned to Arbor to ensure that customer-facing services remain available. When Arbor’s Peakflow SP identifies an attack, customer traffic is diverted to the Arbor Threat Management System where it is scrubbed, and attack traffic surgically removed, while legitimate business traffic is passed through to the customer.

Hosting providers often have a higher risk of DDoS attack because they, in effect, aggregate the risk of all their customers. An attack on one customer can affect others and potentially the entire hosting operation because of the heavy reliance on shared infrastructure.
